Little by Little by Little

I am one single little pound away from having lost a total of 75 pounds!  People are finally starting to ask me if I have lost weight.  (I was even told by a nun that it was noticable in my “bottom” that I had been losing weight!)

How?  How?  How?  It is as if people think you have a magic spell that you will share with them.  Um…well, the first 30, I lost with sheer exercise.  The next 30 came off from divorce.  The remaining 14 pounds have dropped with my newest diet magic: the Kidney Stone Diet!  Yes, I have a kidney stone, which for some reason leaves me with absolutely no appetite.  In fact, food often makes my stomach turn.

HOWEVER, I am also doing some exercise, little by little by little.  When I am walking the halls at work, I am walking using resistance in my legs.  I feel each of my legs push forward or backward in stride.  I imagine that I am moving through quicksand and use resistance to create energy.

When I am sitting at my desk, I am doing stomach crunches.  When I was in the waiting room at the doctors office, I did some squats.  You don’t even necessarily have to use large, wide movements.  It is all in HOW you use your muscles.  Resistance training rocks!  If you are interested in learning more, one of my favorite “old skool” exercise tapes is Susan Powter.  Any of her tapes, actually (I think you will have to buy from Amazon or Ebay).  She is awesome!  You definitely won’t hop around and act goofy in this exercise class.  Her classes help to build the muscle that burns the fat.  Really good stuff.

Anyways…it is the little things you do each day that can really make a big difference.  Each night, our family watches Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune together.  It is our bonding hour, and we love to all guess at the clues and puzzles.  Well, recently, I have made a new rule at home.  During Wheel of Fortune, we all have to be exercising, dancing, or moving around WHILE we watch.  It has become a bit of a challenge, but a lot of fun.

Life, in general, is getting better.  With this new focus on myself, I am beginning to find a new energy.  I am curious as to where this will lead.

Let me know what you think!
